ASPERA ASTRA ARCHITECTURE COLLECTIVE
Human connection Between Architecture Spirit and Nature
* Who are we? *
We are an international team of architects who believe in architecture as a tool for positive societal change. We started working together on projects while still in the Master degree class of Building Architecture in Politecnico of Milan. In our projects we experiment with the architectural form and find creative solutions for restorative projects.
* Our purpose *
Bringing back to life the forgotten heritage, while finding solutions for adaptability that can function also in case of war or natural disaster. To guarantee all humankind the right to shelter but also preserve the planet, we will always prefer sustainable solutions, local materials, and reuse of the existing. We also provide the opportunity to students and young architects for in-the-field experience via workshops and construction festivals in partnership with various universities.
* Our beliefs *
We believe that architecture can lead to transforming our environments, our lives and our outlooks.
We believe in reuse and sustainable practices.
We believe in collaborative, horizontally-organized collective where each member has a specialty and contributes in its own way but we can all lend each other a hand and work together on a common goal and make the project better.
We believe in the power that community holds and of what can be achieved when we stand together and work together.
* Our values *
We value humans, nature and communities and the invisible lines that connect them.
* Our team *
Aurelian, Nilufer, Eleonora, Mohamed, Teodora and Varshini. We are a team of architects with a diverse set of specialization and focuses which allows us for a holistic approach when working on projects. Our collective works as a democracy, with an horizontal structure, collective and democratic approach to decision making.
* Our purpose *
We want to contribute to building a future of which we are proud, with our own hands.
* Call for action *
We decided we wanted to create something that could truly help the communities and contribute positively to the landscape. We also were painfully aware of the state of the planet, where wars and natural disasters often deny the right to shelter to so many. Then we realize the problems we wanted to solve could actually be solved together. We have a deep respect for the local context, the landscapes, its traditions, and its communities.
* Our goals *
To build a lasting continuation of the existing, preserve the built, and rebuild communities.
- Goal 1: we intend to bring back the interest of the community to the forgotten, the abandoned, the derelict
- Goal 2: we want to rebuild and restore abandoned sites and give them back to the communities
- Goal 3: we intend to create an architectural hub in Sardinia by also organizing and run workshops
- Goal 4: we want to research, experiment and create construction systems that can give shelter to people who have lost it due to war or natural events and we want to have found;
- Goal 5: we want to create a construction festival that showcases our findings and bring vitality, cultural interest and life
* Our vision for the future *
What we imagine is a vibrant cultural and economic province where currently it’s a forgotten but beautiful past. We want our architecture to be restorative, collaborating with other initiatives that share our goals.
